Portuguese football is forever expanding and Portuguese footballers are everywhere! Whilst the biggest concentration of Portuguese players is naturally in Portugal, Europe is also filled with Portuguese talents both young and established, internationally capped and uncapped.
What league has the most Portuguese players?
I have used the TransferMarkt official database to categorise all of the Portuguese players who are active in Europe’s top 10 leagues EXCLUDING Portugal (As per the official UEFA Coefficient Ranking). The data has then been ranked from 1-9 in terms of number of Portuguese players!
Use the below statistics to keep tabs on those players playing across the continent or simply stock up on some football trivia!
(As this is based on the 19/20 season, any player that is loan to a team in another league will be counted towards his loan club’s league, as opposed to his parent club)
