João Cancelo Scoops Talento Que Marca o Mundo Prize for December

Manchester City full-back João Cancelo is the December winner of the Liga Portugal Talento que Marca o Mundo prize for his fantastic performances in December.

In what was a very busy month for Cancelo and City, he played six times in the Premier League, helping his side to six successive victories and contributing a goal and an assist in the process.

The award was recently created by Liga Portugal in order to highlight and celebrate the work of a Portuguese player or coach who stood out the most during that month. The winner is chosen by ambassadors of Liga Portugal, including ex players and managers such as Nuno Gomes, Paulo Futre and André Villas-Boas.

“I’m very happy and this is also an incentive for people to see more Portuguese football…i’m always very attentive to Portuguese football and it is good that people in other countries see our league, because there is a lot of talent here in Portugal.” – João Cancelo after receiving the award.
