Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota will miss the upcoming FIFA World Cup through injury. The news was reported by Abola and has since been confirmed by Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp.
The 25-year-old was stretchered off at the end of Liverpool’s match with Manchester City, with an injury that has “completely ruled out any possibility” of him making the tournament.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp confirmed in the last few minutes that Jota will indeed miss out.
Klopp: “It is really not good news on Diogo. He will miss the World Cup. It is a pretty serious injury. It is very sad news for us and Portugal”
It represents another huge blow for Fernando Santos’ side, especially in terms of attacking options. Wolves’ Pedro Neto has already been ruled out of the competition, Rafa Silva has announced his retirement and now it has been confirmed that Portugal will be without Jota, who has a healthy 10 goals in 28 appearances for A Seleção.
