Portugal have been overtaken by the Netherlands and have dropped to seventh place in the European coefficient table and as a consequence, will lose a UEFA Champions League spot from the 2024/25 season.

Only the winner of the Primeira Liga will qualify directly for the UEFA Champions League, the team who finishes second will have to play qualifiers in order to make it to the group stage. The Eredivisie will now have a minimum of two teams qualify directly for the UEFA Champions League group stage and a third club will enter the qualifying rounds.
Feyenoord’s 1-0 win over José Mourinho’s AS Roma takes the Eredivise to 59,300 points, Portugal meanwhile have 55,882 points meaning the Dutch are now in a position where they mathematically cannot be caught this season.
